Mexican Government Actions to Promote Sustainable Fishing and Species Protection
SAGARPA is the Secretary of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Urban Development, Fisheries and Food. As a branch of Mexico’s Federal Government, they are responsible for establishing public policies to ensure optimum development of the areas listed above.
Within the fishing sector, their commitment is to promote sustainability, conservation and protection of natural resources, focusing on the long term benefits.
CONAPESCA is the National Commission of Aquaculture and Fisheries, a branch of SAGARPA solely committed to the fishing industry and as such, shares their priorities and committments.
