Consejo Mexicano del Camarón
The Mexican Shrimp Council (Consejo
Mexicano del Camarón) started as an alliance of
forward-looking producers, suppliers and marketers in the
Mexican shrimp industry. Mexican Shrimp has long held a
unique position as a top-quality product, known mainly by
chefs and other leaders of the food service industry. The
Council was established to bring Mexican Shrimp to the
forefront of the industry as, "the words finest shrimp". The
goal is to tell the remarkable story of our shrimp paradise
where the shrimp are superior and authentic in taste,
texture and color.
Ocean Garden Products, Inc., founding CMC member, is the
most recognized brand and company selling Mexican Shrimp in
the U.S. Council Members also include the best wild shrimp
producers, farm-raised shrimp producers, processors,
suppliers and marketers. Additionally, the Council has full
support from the Mexican government including CONAPESCA
(National Aquaculture and Fisheries Commission), SAGARPA
(Department of Agriculture, Livestock Rural Development,
Fisheries and Nutrition).
The Council has developed a long-term goal to educate
seafood buyers, chefs and shrimp lovers about Mexican Shrimp
and why our premium product is truly gourmet. The Council’s
trade adverting campaign efforts have already created a buzz
in the industry.
With over 500 members representing more than 50 million
pounds of shrimp in Mexico we are confident that Mexican
Shrimp will be recognized as the premium standard by which
all other shrimp are judged.
